Tell us about your role as Head of Customer Growth for Checked In Care

My daily responsibilities are quite diverse, ranging from client meetings and demonstrations to strategy development, account management and contract negotiations. I sometimes find myself reading through big piles of new legislation and working out what it means to the industry.

What do you most enjoy about working in care?

I’ve always been drawn to the “nitty-gritty” of the sector. Having completed a postgraduate qualification in quality and safety in healthcare, I find it fascinating to see how changes in legislation reveal market gaps. Highly regulated sectors can require that kind of disruption to prompt change.

Tell us about your background and expertise. What were you doing before you joined Checked In Care?

I’ve been with Checked In Care for two years now. Before this, I worked in a number of areas including digital health, start-ups and started in retail. Fairly early on in my career, I worked for Adidas, which was a life-changing experience.

I sometimes think everyone in business should spend some time in retail, you just learn so much. For me retail was where I learnt all about finance, rostering, empathy and sales processes.

Why did you join Checked In Care?

I was drawn to the opportunity to apply my background in quality and safety within a digital health context, focusing on platforms that simplify care management and improve the overall service experience.

What were the big strengths of Checked In Care? Why did customers love it?

Our success really stems from the human element. Many of our team members have extensive experience in aged care. So our clients value the direct relationship and the credibility of the team behind the product. We also gained significant traction by solving real regulatory hurdles, such as with the latest HELF reforms in Australian residential aged care, and tracking, tracing, and billing goods and services through our platform.

You’re part of the Evaran team now, what do you see as the big challenges ahead?

Evaran has brought together four industry leading, well-known brands from different parts of the care sector. We are currently working to bring multiple strong brands under a single identity. This opens huge opportunity for providers who utilise all products across the Evaran suite; but we also need to recognise that integration with other platforms will remain necessary. Ensuring that providers know they have choice and can still gain benefits from the four brands coming together, will be important.

And what about you, what are your likes and loves outside of work?

I love movement. I’m an (injured) competitive powerlifter and have represented Australia three times. At my best I could squat 158kg, bench press about 80kg bench press and perform a 177.5kg deadlift.

Aside from that, I enjoy walking and street photography. I find the camera on a phone to be a convenient, non-intrusive way to capture observations of the world.
